Suspended license in Oklahoma: points, other causes, and how to reinstate
In Oklahoma, the first points threshold is 10 points within 5 years: First point suspension: one month. A Driver Improvement / Defensive Driving Course removes 2 points, one time in a 24-month period. The fee to reinstate after a suspension that is not alcohol-related is $50.
A DUI is only one of the ways a license gets suspended. Points from ordinary tickets, an unpaid ticket, a lapse in insurance, unpaid child support or a missed court date each carry their own suspension and their own path back. The rules below are the ones the Service Oklahoma (driver licensing) and the Oklahoma Board of Tests for Alcohol and Drug Influence (Impaired Driver Accountability Program) states, each quoted from its page or from the statute.
How the points system works
Most states assign points to moving violations and suspend the license when the total inside a set window crosses a threshold. The threshold, the window and how long each violation keeps counting are all set by the state.
Under the Oklahoma Mandatory Point System, points are assessed to the driving record of persons convicted of certain violations, generally traffic violations; when the point total reaches ten or more points within a five-year period the license is suspended, for one month on a first point suspension rising to twelve months for a fourth or subsequent one.

Points period stated by the agency: 3 years. Points count toward suspension when ten or more accumulate within a five-year period. Two points are removed after twelve consecutive months without a conviction for a pointable violation, and the point level is reduced to zero after three consecutive years without one. The driving record Service Oklahoma sells shows up to three years of history.

“The Department of Public Safety is authorized to grant a two-point credit towards the Oklahoma Point System Regulations to any person who successfully completes a course pursuant to this section provided only one such course shall be acknowledged once every twenty-four (24) months.”

Service Oklahoma describes these as six-hour schools designed to assist the problem driver in correcting bad driving habits; two points are deducted from the driving record on successful completion of an approved course, once in a 24-month period. Under 47 O.S. § 6-206.1 the course must be approved under that section and the credit follows the Point System Regulations. A Motor Vehicle Accident Prevention Course given by employers does not qualify for point reduction.

Reinstating after a non-DUI suspension
Reinstatement fee: $50. For a points suspension and most other Title 47 suspensions, 47 O.S. § 6-212(C) requires a $25 processing fee for each suspension or revocation plus a single $25 reinstatement fee. For suspensions or revocations under §§ 6-205, 6-205.1, 7-612, 753, 754, 761, a no-insurance conviction under § 7-605(A), or a § 6-206(B) suspension other than for points, the processing fee is $75 plus a $200 trauma-care assessment, and $15 more for alcohol-related arrests. Reinstatement fees are not cumulative across multiple suspensions.

Driving during a non-DUI suspension

Service Oklahoma may permit a Modified Driver License for point suspensions arising from accumulation of traffic violations, non-DUI-related suspensions, first-offense drug suspensions and first-offense eluding; modifications are not guaranteed, are not available for DUI-related offenses, authorize Class D vehicles only, and reinstatement fees are required at the end of the modification period.
